One of the anchors is West Village, a mixed-use development with an art house movie theater, top-notch dining, boutique shopping, and entertainment options. Uptown is also home to lots of parks and green space. Neighborhoods include State Thomas, Howell Park Uptown Dallas, West Village, LoMac, McKinney Avenue, Harwood, and parts of Oak Lawn and Turtle Creek.

Locals love to ride on the free trolley in Uptown, and stops include The Gallery Walk Shopping District, Stanley Korshak (at the Crescent), West Village, Hotel ZaZa, four historical cemeteries and The Dallas Museum of Art in downtown. Many people even use it to commute to work in downtown.screen-shot-2016-10-12-at-11-11-25-pm

If dining and entertainment are on your to-do list, you won’t have to go far in Uptown to find what you’re looking for. From Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery and Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie, to S&D Oyster Company and Savor Gastropub, the range of delectable options is huge.

Uptown has three theaters, Theatre Three, The McKinney Avenue Contemporary (The MAC), and Landmark’s Magnolia Theatre. These are award-winning groups who have won the hearts of locals and visitors, alike. There are also multiple art galleries, especially around the Quadrangle area. Make a Saturday afternoon of it and stroll around.

In addition to top-notch dining and entertainment, galleries and theaters, Uptown is home to some fascinating and important historical sites. The area has four of the city’s oldest burial grounds all clustered around Hall Street: Freedman’s Memorial, Temple Emanu-El Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, and Greenwood Cemetery. The self-guided Uptown Trails cemetery tour is conducted by stone markers and allows visitors to see these moving monuments.

Finally, and perhaps most heralded in Uptown is its world-class shopping. Many of the finest shops are clustered in West Village, The Shops at Crescent Court, and the Quadrangle, though you’ll find smatterings of fine shopping all over Uptown.

Young couple shopping walks through the city viewed the windows of boutiques, carrying shopping bags in their hands.
